While the nation gets ready to "Choose or Lose", my two favorite bands are forcing me to make another difficult decision. On November 1st, 2008 Hanson will take "The Walk Around The World Tour" to Montclair, NJ and Locksley will be performing their hearts out to the MTV generation in NYC. Hanson announced their tour dates several months ago while Locksley just confirmed it this week. Neither show has tickets on sale yet but should soon. So that leaves me with the question: Which concert do I go to?
Lets see...
~ I've been a "Fanson" for 11+ years and only heard of Locksley when
they opened for Hanson last year.
~ During the past year Jesse, Kai, Sam & Jordan (as well as others in the
Locksley camp) have shown more appreciation to me just for being a fan
than Isaac, Taylor & Zac ever have for all the promoting, time, energy and
money I've spent on them in my lifetime.
~ Locksley would acknowledge and thank me for going to their concert.
Hanson wouldn't know the difference.
~ The 11/01/08 concert would be my 28th for Hanson or 14th for Locksley.
~ I already have tickets & plans set for 3 other Hanson shows on this
tour, while the closest scheduled Locksley show besides this one is 4+ hours
away and on a Monday.
~ Locksley is based in Brooklyn so when they're NOT on tour, I can go to
almost every show.
~ Hanson is based in Tulsa, OK but when they ARE on tour they tend to have 3-5 shows in my general area.
~ This is the only Hanson show that both of my sisters can go to and I'm
sure (although I haven't asked them yet) that they would both pick Hanson
over Locksley in a heartbeat.
~ Montclair is about 10 minutes away while NYC is 30 minutes to 2 hours
depending on traffic and I've never driven there so I'd have to take mass
transit which I know nothing about.
~ This is the first time Hanson is playing thisclose to me and I'm hoping
they'll come back again. I am promoting this show and want to do
everything in my power to show them that we're worth it.
~ Several people I know may be making this their FIRST EVER Hanson concert because Montclair is so close and I would love to share that experience with them.
~ This is Locksley's first headlining tour and with MTV on board as well,
it would be very interesting to see how it plays out.
~ Both tours are generating awareness of important issues (Hanson: Aids &
poverty in Africa, Locksley: Voting in this election), but only one I
agree with and the other I couldn't care less.
~ Locksley tickets run around $10-$30 (including service charges) while
Hanson's are usually $30-$70 a pop.
~ Assuming both are GA shows, at a Locksley concert you can drink and walk around as you please while Fansons tend to force you to fight to stand your ground, squashed in one spot for hours on end.
~ But... ITZ HAAANSON! Yes, that's a reason all itz own... At least it has
been for the past 11 years in my house. (ie: "Shouldn't you be in bed?! I
was watching something & I thought I told you NO TV this week!!!" "But...
ITZ HAAANSON!" "OK but only until it's over.")
That's where my thought process has gone so far. Did I miss a good reason
why I should go to one or the other? What would you do? I'd really
appreciate your input in this choice of a lifetime. Should I go with the
party that has ruled my life all these years or is it time for a change?

Thanks,
Stephanie
